Shawn Starcher is a native Marylander who attended the University of Maryland at College Park. She completed her student teaching in Charles County Public Schools at John Hanson Middle School and Maurice J. McDonough High School. She earned her degree in Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education- Biological Sciences in 1998, joined the EACC and began her teaching career at Thomas Stone High School. She worked at Thomas Stone for five years and then became an instructor at the College of Southern Maryland for several years as an Adjunct Faculty member teaching Zoology and Botany courses. Shawn currently works at La Plata High School, where she has been located since 2005. She is a very active member of the EACC as she has served as a Senior Certified Building Rep, an MSEA Convention delegate, a member of the Governmental Relations Committee and as the 2016 Treasurer for the annual NEA Convention Host Committee.
